Navy and burgundy palmettes follow a blue scrolling vine across the wide cream border. Narrow guard stripes in tan and blue flank this band on both sides. The pile is even, and the blue shifts lighter in a few soft patches. It suits a bright room, with soft blue and cream notes underfoot. Few Persian towns built their weaving reputation in the twentieth century rather than centuries earlier, and Nain is one of them. The palette is unusually pale for Persia, with ivory grounds, soft blue and closely worked vines.
