Hi, I’m Arda. Together with my partners, I’m building Storied Rugs into a global name for vintage handmade rugs.
Storied Rugs is a curated gallery of one of a kind vintage rugs, hand-knotted across the great weaving regions of Persia and Turkey. We don’t make rugs; we find the best ones. There are countless vintage rugs out there. Our job is to find the pieces worth keeping, and to know what it takes to bring each one back to life. Every rug is chosen one at a time, washed and restored by specialists we have trusted for years, and photographed in our own studio. And there is always a person on the other end of every order.
Where Storied Rugs began.
Storied Rugs began the way most good things do, with people who simply couldn’t stop looking at rugs. We grew up around the markets and looms of Persia and Turkey, where a rug is never just décor; it’s a record of the hands that made it and the years it has lived through.
Years in the trade taught us how to read one, its age and region, the quality of its wool and dye, the small repairs it needs to last another lifetime. Today we do what we’ve always loved: hunt down the pieces worth keeping, wash and restore them by hand, and help each one find a new home. It’s less a business than a way of keeping a craft alive, one rug at a time.

Four steps stand between a rug we discover and the one we send to you, and we don’t skip any of them.
Sourced at the source
We buy one rug at a time from the regions where they were woven, choosing only pieces with genuine age, character and sound structure.
Washed & restored
Each rug is hand-washed and repaired by specialists, secured edges, rewoven ends, gentle cleaning, never over-restored or stripped of its patina.
Photographed as it is
We shoot every rug in our own studio in natural light, front and back, and we show the wear where there is wear. No listing on this site is a stock photo.
Wrapped & delivered
The rug is folded, carefully wrapped and shipped fully insured, with tracking from the moment it leaves us. Shipping is free in the US and Canada.
Every rug is the only one of its kind.
None of these were made in a batch. Each was woven by hand decades ago, some forty years old, some closer to eighty, by weavers working a pattern held in memory, knot by knot, over many months. Time, use and the quiet irregularities of the loom gave every piece a character that can never be repeated. Our work is to choose well, care for them properly, and pass them on.
