Storied Rugs is committed to making storiedrugs.com usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who browse with screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

We describe our conformance as partial. Parts of this site have been built and tested against Level AA; other parts have not yet been fully assessed, and some content is supplied by third-party services we do not control. We are working through the site progressively rather than claiming a finish line we have not reached.

What we have done

• Text and background colours are chosen for contrast against our dark and light backgrounds.
• Navigation, filters, and forms can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
• Rug photography carries descriptive alternative text, so the pattern, palette, and condition of a piece are conveyed to screen reader users rather than just its title.
• Headings are structured in order, so assistive technology can navigate a page by its outline.
• Motion and transitions are reduced automatically for visitors whose device requests it.
• Form fields carry visible, programmatically associated labels.

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about where we fall short today:

• Some third-party content — including embedded reviews, payment interfaces, and analytics widgets — is rendered by outside providers whose accessibility we can influence but not guarantee.
• Older journal posts may contain images without complete alternative text. We are working backwards through the archive.
• Some detailed rug specification tables may be difficult to follow on very small screens with magnification enabled.

Buying a rug another way

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and no page can fully substitute for a conversation. If any part of this site is a barrier, we will gladly walk you through a piece directly — measurements, condition, colour in daylight, or anything else — and complete a purchase for you by email or phone. You will not get a worse price or a smaller selection by buying this way.
