A lobed diamond medallion in slate blue and gold sits at the center of this charming rug. Across a rose field, pretty pale blue vines and cream blossoms scatter around a central figure. The medallion is a lobed diamond in slate blue and gold, with small pendants reaching toward the top and bottom. Large cream corner pieces curve around the field, holding graceful curling vines that mirror the center. The main border runs slate blue, carrying small flowers and stepped forms in cream, red and teal. Narrow guard stripes in slate blue and green edge the frame on either side. The pile is worn thin over the whole rose field, and the weave shows through. Rose and slate blue share the floor in even measure. At 5'11" by 9'1", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Manisa rugs
Kula carpets, from Manisa province, are studied in two periods: the “palace carpet” period from the 17th century to the 1860s, and the years after, when foreign influence shows. Almost every household in Demirci, a district of Manisa, has been known to keep a carpet loom. Manisa lies inland from the Aegean coast, and its weaving sits between two traditions. You find the geometric medallions of Anatolian village work and the softer floral borders of the western workshops in the same rug. This piece keeps that mix, with a stepped diamond at the center and curling vines in the corners. The rose field reads soft against the blue border.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
