This amazing runner has a navy main medallion in a deep red field. Set in a deep red field, small navy and pink lozenge motifs scatter around a central column. A large navy rectangle forms the splendid main medallion, holding a cream panel with a red and navy pattern, while navy diamonds extend above and below. Navy stepped pieces sit in each corner of the runner. The border is narrow, a stepped cream and navy line that runs the length of the rug. The pile is full across the face and the geometric drawing stays crisp. It holds the strong red and navy together without letting the pattern feel busy. At 3'3" by 7'6", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Lori rugs
Until the early 20th century the tribes of southwestern Persia were mostly nomadic, moving between summer and winter pastures. Lori weaving comes from the Lur people of the western Zagros mountains, and it is tribal work in the proper sense. The rugs were woven on portable looms, in formats that suited a tent rather than a hall. The geometry is bold and slightly loose, and the colors are strong. This runner shows that geometry in its stepped lines and hooked corner pieces, with navy and cream standing clear of the red.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
