Near-black steps outline three stepped hexagonal medallions on this charming rug. At the center, three stepped hexagonal medallions run down the length of a deep red field. Near-black steps outline each shape, and small trees and geometric figures in cream and red fill the cores, the middle one set on tan. Dainty cream and red star shapes sit in the red spaces between the medallions and in the corners. The splendid main border is cream, carrying blocky figures in red, tan and plum. A narrow near-black guard stripe runs along the inner edge, set with a red vine and small red blossoms. Pile runs low on the red ground and in the near-black steps, where the foundation shows. The cream border lightens the heavy red center in a narrow passage. At 3'3" by 9'7", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.
