3070 · 4'3" x 11'7" Persian Bakhtiari Area Rug

Each hexagonal compartment holds a single tree or flowering plant in this lovely rug. Splendid hexagonal compartments divide the rust field, each holding a single tree or flowering plant on its own ground of brick, dark blue, cream or walnut. The grounds change from one compartment to the next, so the color moves across the runner with no medallion to gather it. A narrow border of small lozenges and rosettes in rust, cream and dark blue closes the field, set off by thin dark guard stripes. Many compartments are worn low, the cream and brick ones most of all, and the weave shows in places. The dark blue and walnut grounds keep a fuller pile than the rest. Warm rust and brick fill the hall, while dark blue panels give that warmth some depth. At 4'3" by 11'7", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
