3954 · 2'6" x 5'3" Persian Zanjan Accent Rug

A column of stepped red medallions stands on the navy ground of this lovely rug. On a navy ground, a column of beautiful stepped red medallions runs down the center, with a large octagon at the middle enclosing a blue cross motif. Smaller red hexagons with blue centers sit above and below, linked by narrow stems. Gorgeous blue stepped spandrels fill the four corners, and small rose rosettes are scattered across the navy field. The border is dark blue and carries a row of small rose flowers, with a narrow guard stripe inside it. The weave shows thin in spots, with white specks across the red. The dense drawing keeps the red and blue distinct without overwhelming a small space. At 2'6" by 5'3", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
