An all-over pattern on a navy field makes this a delightful rug. Across a navy field, rows of pale blue vases hold pretty sprays of salmon and cream blossoms with teal leaves, and small blue flowers fill the gaps between them. The design repeats as an all-over pattern with no medallion and no corner pieces. A deep red main border carries handsome diamond cartouches in pale blue and teal, with small rosettes and leaf forms. Camel guard stripes run on both sides of the border, set with pink flowers and teal dashes. The pile is full over the whole face. The dense drawing keeps the many colors in order. At 3'4" by 4'11", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Tabriz rugs
Isma’il, the first Safavid shah, was crowned in Tabriz in 1501. Tabriz stood for a long period on the great caravan routes to Trebizond and Tiflis, and became the principal market of Persia for the export of rugs. The city workshop tradition of Tabriz, in northwestern Persia, shows in the discipline of the drawing. Its workshops used a wider palette than most, so ivory and pale blue grounds appear alongside the reds. This rug keeps that planned precision in the repeating vase motif and the clean turn of the border at each corner. The deep red frame holds the busy field together, while the salmon and teal accents brighten it.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
