A lobed dusty rose medallion makes this a charming rug. Small brown and mauve flowers and stems scatter across the cream field. A lobed medallion in dusty rose sits at the center, with a pretty brown lobed rosette at its core. Handsome brown corner pieces fill the four spandrels, each holding a pale leaf shape. The main border reads gray brown, set with fine stepped and scrolling motifs in cream and brown. Thin brown and pale stripes frame this band. Low spots appear through the field and along the border, with the foundation visible. Brown and rose tones shape the look of this rug. At 6'7" by 10', it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In the first half of 1911 the company workshop in Isparta wove about 12,318 square meters of carpet, more than any other workshop of the Oriental Carpet Manufacturers. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. The palette is chalkier and softer, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. These are town rugs, not tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field tends to read calm from across a room. This rug sets one medallion at the center of a cream field, with brown corner pieces and a gray brown border around it. Dusty rose is the one pink note among the browns.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
