A dense all-over repeat of stems and blossoms covers this amazing rug. Worked on an ivory field, charming curling stems and blossoms in sage, gray beige and pale blue form a dense all-over repeat. No central medallion anchors the design; instead, large circular vine loops repeat across the entire surface. A wide main border in gray green and brown carries dainty cream rosettes and small geometric forms. Narrow guard stripes in sage and cream mark off the busy field from the darker surround. The pile is full and even across the face. Sage and cream tones hold their place without asking for attention. At 5'9" by 9'7", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In 1943 the Isparta carpet factory passed to the state-owned Sumerbank, which backed carpet making by hand there with new technology. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. The palette is chalkier and softer, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. These are town rugs, not tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field tends to read calm from across a room. This rug keeps that orderly floral character and the muted palette, with sage and gray beige on ivory. Rather than the single medallion layout often seen in Persian models, this rug repeats its vine pattern across the entire surface.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
