This charming rug carries three diamond medallions down its center. The deep red field holds three gorgeous diamond medallions down the center, each outlined in near-black with salmon scrolls and a blue and pink core. Blue spandrels with dainty salmon scrolling vines fill the corners at each end. The main border is near-black, carrying pink and red leaf forms and small blossoms in orange and blue. Narrow guard stripes run a zigzag of green and blue triangles on a tan ground. The field has thinned in a few patches, while the pile in the border is full. It brings a strong line of red and pink to a narrow passage. At 3'7" by 10'3", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Ferdos rugs
The Textile Museum in Washington names Sabzevar, Herat, Mashhad and Dorokhsh among the Khorasan cities cited as sources of fine carpets. Khorasan has its classic carpets in those of Herat, and pieces in the herati pattern survive from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In eastern Persia’s Khorasan region, Ferdos shares a weaving belt with Birjand and Mashhad. Its rugs tend toward the curvilinear drawing of eastern Persia, with repeating floral fields instead of one dominant medallion, on a palette of madder red and indigo. This runner keeps the curved drawing in its border and the red of its field. The blue sits in the corners and in the cores of the medallions.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
