4747 · 4'10" x 10'5" Persian Mahal Area Rug

Cream spandrels with pink flowers and curling blue vines fill all four corners, making this a lovely rug. Worked on a navy field, dainty scrolling vines carry deep red rosettes, cream leaves and small gold blossoms across the ground. A star medallion sits at the center, red with a cream core holding a small flower head, and splendid notched pendants reach toward the ends. Cream spandrels with pink flowers and curling blue vines fill the four corners. The main border is deep red, set with cream and blue palmettes linked by a dark vine. Narrow guard stripes of steel blue with small red diamonds and a diagonal cream and red band edge it. The pile is full across most of the rug, with one small low spot in the red border. It anchors a long room, and the dark ground tempers the bright red of the medallion. At 4'10" by 10'5", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
