5124 · 6'11" x 10'5" Persian Mashhad Area Rug

Ringed by near-black points, a large star medallion sits at the center of this charming rug. Worked on a deep red field, dainty scrolling vines and palmettes in brown, gold and cream fill the space around a central figure. A large star medallion sits at the center, its core a small blue rosette set in layers of copper and gold, ringed by near-black points. Dense floral sprays in red, rust and olive crowd the beautiful near-black spandrels at each corner. Near-black corner grounds run along both long sides of the field, and the only border is a narrow steel blue band set with small red and cream rosettes. Scattered pale specks in the field show low spots in the pile. The near-black corners frame the busy red drawing, holding the pattern together in a formal room. At 6'11" by 10'5", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
