Three diamond medallions stand in a vertical column on this charming rug. A deep red field holds three diamond medallions in a vertical column, each worked in black and pale pink. Each center shape sprays small floral forms outward across the open ground. Matching corner pieces at the four corners echo this drawing against the red. A gorgeous dark brown border runs small geometric flowers in salmon and black around the edge. The pile is low in places through the middle, and the red reads paler there against the foundation. It holds a warm note in a small space, letting the black drawing stand clear against the red. At 3'1" by 5'9", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.

About Ferdos rugs
Travelers of the Safavid era remarked on the fine Khorasan carpets sold in the Persian Gulf port of Hormuz and in one of the main caravansaries of Isfahan. The Herat carpets are the classic carpets of Khorasan, and pieces in the herati pattern survive from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In eastern Persia’s Khorasan region, Ferdos shares a weaving belt with Birjand and Mashhad. Its rugs tend toward the curvilinear drawing of eastern Persia, with repeating floral fields instead of one dominant medallion, on a palette of madder red and indigo. This piece keeps that floral vocabulary in its scattered blossoms and corner pieces. The layout sets three distinct diamond shapes down the length rather than filling the ground with a continuous vine.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
