A central diamond medallion in pale green and cream makes this a lovely rug. The salmon field holds a beautiful central diamond medallion in pale green and cream around a small dark brown heart. Large pale green corner pieces with stepped outlines fill the four corners of the field. Cream fills the wide border, which carries rows of small floral shapes outlined in brown. Thin guard stripes in dark brown and green edge this band on either side. The colors show a light antique wash that softened them without reaching the drawing. A few patches of the pile have worn low across the face, and white specks of foundation show there. It brings a warm note to bare boards. At 5'10" by 8'11", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

About Manisa rugs
In Demirci, a district of Manisa, almost every household has been known to keep a carpet loom. Since 1997 the hand-woven carpets of Gordes, a district of Manisa, have carried a protected geographical mark. Manisa sits inland from the Aegean coast, and its weavers worked between two traditions. A single rug can hold the geometric medallions of Anatolian village work and the softer floral borders of the western workshops. That blend appears here in the stepped corner pieces and the floral row along the cream border. The drawing is unfussy, suited to a house rather than a formal hall.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
