This lovely rug has ivory blossom sprays on brown stems scattered over a dusty rose field. Dusty rose covers the entire field, where graceful ivory blossom sprays on brown stems are scattered about. There is no central medallion, only an open expanse where the blossoms gather along the edges and corners. Double ivory lines frame the field in a splendid rectangular cartouche with stepped, scrolled corners and thin vine lines along the sides. The pile is low in places. The rose tone suits a passage laid over wood or tile. At 3'10" by 7'2", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In the first half of 1911 the company workshop in Isparta wove about 12,318 square meters of carpet, more than any other workshop of the Oriental Carpet Manufacturers. The largest carpet exchange in Turkey in its day was the Isparta Carpet Palace. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. That palette is chalkier and softer, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. This rug keeps the soft rose and cream scheme. The ivory blossoms sit loosely around an open center.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
