A cream lobed diamond medallion rests on this lovely rug. Worked on a turquoise field, scattered sprays of tan and cream flowers float around a central shape. The medallion forms a beautiful lobed diamond in cream, holding a small bloom at its core. Matching floral clusters sit near the four corners and curve inward around the open center. A garland of small leaves and flowers runs along the top and bottom ends. The pile is worn low across the field, and the foundation shows through in pale patches. Muted tan and cream tones sit against the cool blue ground in a bright room. At 5'4" by 8'10", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The story goes that the Yamut, a tribe of Seljuk Oghuz Turks who settled around Isparta, developed carpet weaving there, and that their rugs were known as “yamut” rugs. Carpet weaving in Isparta has passed through many stages since 1850, and its carpets first reached buyers overseas through the Oriental Carpet Company. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. This piece sets tan and cream flowers against a turquoise ground. The open layout lets the cool field color dominate, leaving plenty of space around the floral motifs.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
