A large oval medallion holds scrolling vines in this lovely rug. Set within a cream field, a large oval medallion holds scrolling vines and small rosettes in tan and gray beige. Notched pendants extend from the top and bottom of the central form, reaching toward the narrow ends. Beautiful curved spandrels fill the four corners with matching floral sprays that mirror the center. A charming continuous vine of brown blossoms runs along the main border on a light ground, edged by thin guard stripes. A full antique wash has brought every color to one warmth, none at strength. A few patches across the face wear low. At 5'7" by 9'4", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The carpets of Isparta, known as “Isparta quality,” were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The largest carpet exchange in Turkey in its day was the Isparta Carpet Palace. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. These are town rugs, so the drawing is orderly and the field looks even from a distance. This piece keeps that orderly plan, with the central medallion and corner spandrels laid out in strict symmetry. Brown motifs sit lightly on the washed cream ground, leaving the rug looking open and airy.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
