Curling stems and rosettes run as one lattice across this charming rug. Delicate vines and small flower heads in tan and gray brown cover the cream field in an all-over repeat. No central medallion interrupts it; curling stems and rosettes run as one lattice across the whole face. The main border is gray beige, carrying small blue blossoms among brown leaves. Every color has gone to one warmth under a full antique wash, none at strength. A few patches have worn low, and the foundation shows in the lighter ones. At 5'2" by 9'3", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
An Ottoman report of 1917 notes that carpet weaving gave work to poor families in Isparta, Burdur and places like them. Merchants of 1917 had a name for the most successful Turkish version of the Persian Tabriz carpet: “Isparta quality,” after the place where it was made. Weavers in Isparta, in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, made floral rugs through the twentieth century that blended Persian designs with a chalky Turkish palette. Cream and rose take the lead over deep madder. Here tan and blue sit on a cream ground. The lattice repeats evenly, and the wash has settled the colors at one warm level.

Full care guideReturns
If a rug isn’t right for your space, get in touch within 7 days of delivery (14 days in the European Union) and we’ll help arrange a return or exchange. Because each piece is one of a kind, we handle every return personally.
Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
