Dense rosettes fill the lobed diamond medallion of this lovely rug. Worked on a cream field, dainty tendrils and floral sprays in gray beige and tan surround a central figure. The medallion is a lobed diamond with pendants at the top and base, filled with dense rosettes. Vine work in the corners frames the open center. A beautiful gray brown border carries a floral pattern, flanked by narrow stripes in tan and cream. An antique wash runs through the whole rug, so no color stays at strength. Wear has taken the pile low across the face, with bare foundation at the center. The tan and gray beige drawing stays muted against pale floors. At 6' by 8'10", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The Isparta Yarn Factory was founded in 1924, in the first years of the Turkish Republic, with the support of Isparta entrepreneurs. The Isparta carpet factory, a center of the craft for a wide region, kept working until 2008. In Isparta, a town in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, weavers favored floral drawing in chalky, softened colors rather than the deep madder of Persia. Town rugs of this kind tend toward orderly layouts. The gray brown and tan outlines here sit softly on the cream ground, and the open center leaves the floral work easy to read.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
