This charming rug has a central lobed medallion on a red field. On a red field, a gorgeous central lobed medallion sits among small rosettes and floral sprays in cream and gray brown. Small vase forms mark the four corners. The wide border reads muted pink, set with a graceful gray brown scroll of vine and small blossoms. A thin band of geometric key forms separates the border from the field. Pile runs low in spots, and the foundation appears where the red has gone pale. The soft red and muted pink sit lightly together. At 3'9" by 6'8", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The carpets of Isparta, known as “Isparta quality,” were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The Isparta carpet factory, a center of the craft for a wide region, kept working until 2008. Isparta is a town in the lake district of southwest Turkey, where weavers made blossom patterns modeled on Persian work, in a Turkish range. Cream and rose lead there, not madder. This piece keeps that gentle mix of red, muted pink and gray beige. The central medallion and scattered rosettes keep the layout balanced.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
