A dense lattice of scrolling vines and rosettes fills this lovely rug from edge to edge. Across a gray brown field, a dense lattice of charming scrolling vines and small rosettes repeats in dark brown over a cream ground. The design is an all-over repeat with no central medallion, filling the space from edge to edge. The main border is dark brown, carrying a row of pretty cream four-petal blossoms and small geometric shapes. A narrow guard stripe with a sawtooth line in cream and brown runs along each edge. Wear has thinned the pile over most of the surface, and the foundation shows through in scattered flecks. Brown and cream shape the drawing across this textured ground. At 7' by 10'3", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
Under the name “Isparta quality” the carpets of Isparta were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. The palette is chalkier and softer, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. These are town rugs, not tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field tends to read calm from across a room. This rug keeps that orderly floral drawing and the soft palette. The all-over vine lattice spreads the pattern across the whole field instead of gathering it in a medallion.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
