Teal rosettes repeat across this charming rug. Lovely teal rosettes, flowers seen from above, repeat across the entire cream field. Small blue outline motifs and tiny leaf sprigs float between the larger floral clusters across the open ground. There is no central medallion, and the pattern runs edge to edge. No border frames the design, leaving the cream ground open at every side. The colors show a light antique wash, softened but with the drawing intact. Here and there the weave shows through in thin patches. The dense drawing keeps the teal and blue notes calm against the pale ground. At 4'9" by 8'4", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The carpets of Isparta, known as “Isparta quality,” were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The largest carpet exchange in Turkey in its day was the Isparta Carpet Palace. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. These are town rugs, not tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field tends to read calm from across a room. The teal rosettes stand out against the cream ground, and the open edges let the pattern run free.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
