Fine gray brown vines and small blossoms make this an amazing rug. Over a gray beige field, fine gray brown vines and small blossoms repeat in an all-over lattice with no central medallion. The drawing covers the ground evenly, with no bare ground showing. A beautiful smoke gray main border frames the field, carrying a scroll of cream flower heads and curling leaves. Narrow stripes line the border on each side. The pile is full across the face and in the borders. The dense drawing holds the eye while keeping the gray beige and smoke tones muted. At 5'2" by 8'2", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
Carpet weaving gave work to poor families in Isparta, Burdur and places like them, an Ottoman report of 1917 notes. The workshops of Isparta, in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. That palette runs softer and chalkier, favoring cream and rose over the deep madder of Persia. As town rugs rather than tribal ones, they keep an orderly drawing across the field. This rug holds that structured floral layout and the muted, chalky range of color. The gray brown vines on the gray beige ground stay low in contrast, and the smoke gray border frames the field without a hard line.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
