An all-over repeat of scrolling vines and blue rosettes covers this charming rug. Across a terracotta field, lovely scrolling vines link blue rosettes and curling leaves in an all-over repeat. A small cream rosette sits near the center, set among the surrounding floral lattice. A handsome cream border carries a row of blue medallion flowers and leaves, held by narrow guard stripes of steel blue. An antique wash, light in strength, has softened the colors without reaching the drawing. A few patches of thin pile show across the field. The warm ground lets the blue accents stand out while keeping the pattern open. At 3'8" by 6'11", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
Carpet weaving gave work to poor families in Isparta, Burdur and places like them, an Ottoman report of 1917 notes. Until 2008 the Isparta carpet factory was still working, a center of the craft for a wide region. The workshops of Isparta, in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, spent the twentieth century weaving Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. That palette runs softer and chalkier, favoring cream and rose over the deep madder of Persia. Here the vine and rosette repeat in even rows. Steel blue accents cool the warm terracotta ground, and the cream border frames the design clearly.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
