1778 · 5'1" x 9'10" Persian Ghoochan Area Rug

The octagonal guls of this charming rug sit in a strict grid on the deep red field. On a deep red field, rows of octagonal guls repeat in a strict grid, three across, each holding cream, orange, teal and gray-blue pinwheel forms. There is no central medallion, only these all-over rows of guls, the tribal emblem. The beautiful main border shares the red ground, with a chain of small diamond emblems in cream, orange, gray-blue and olive. Guard bands of black diamonds and a row of tiny cream and orange blossoms edge the border. The pile is low across much of the field, with white flecks throughout. The orange in the guls keeps the red from going flat, which suits a room that wants one strong color. At 5'1" by 9'10", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
