2246 · 3'8" x 10'2" Persian Hamedan Runner Rug

Three medallions run down the center of this remarkable rug, with a cream lobed medallion at each end. Small rosettes, flower sprigs and curling leaves in cream, pink, ochre and sage cover the deep red field. Three medallions run down the center: a cream lobed medallion at each end with a red cross at its core, and a near-black burgundy diamond outlined in ochre between them. Splendid near-black burgundy corner pieces with stepped edges fill the field corners, and similar pieces sit beside the middle diamond. The gorgeous main border has a dark plum ground carrying stepped figures in rust, teal, cream and pink. A cream stripe sets off the field, and a narrow red stripe closes the outside. The pile is full everywhere. Tightly packed motifs fill the long red shape without crowding it. At 3'8" by 10'2", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
