3104 · 3'3" x 9'9" Persian Hamedan Runner Rug

Two red hexagons with stepped edges stand out in this charming rug. Over a near-black burgundy field, two large red hexagons with stepped edges hold dark geometric cores and small cream accents. A smaller diamond sits between them on the dark ground, which is scattered with tiny rosettes and hooked shapes in deep red and brown. The handsome main border is a muted rust red, filled with angular motifs in orange, ochre and dark brown, with a narrow olive brown band inside it. Narrow guard stripes of zigzag lines in red and charcoal frame the field on both sides. The pile is low in places along the brown border band, where the weave shows, and the drawing stays sharp. It brings a strong graphic line to a narrow passage, the dark ground letting the red shapes stand out. At 3'3" by 9'9", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
