3204 · 3'7" x 9'9" Persian Zanjan Runner Rug

This remarkable runner has two large hexagonal medallions in smoke gray at the center. Set within a deep red field, rows of small geometric diamonds and hooked motifs run down the runner. Two large hexagonal medallions in smoke gray sit at the center, each holding stepped figures in red and cream, inside a pointed red frame. Dark near-black panels close the top and bottom of the field, carrying angular forms in red and tan. A splendid red main border carries stylized rosettes and hooked shapes in tan, gray and orange. Narrow guard stripes in dark brown and red frame the wide band on either side. The pile holds full from end to end. It suits a narrow passage, and the gray medallions break up the long red run. At 3'7" by 9'9", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
