3444 · 5'5" x 13'1" Persian Malayer Area Rug

A lovely allover lattice of small flowers and curved leaves runs end to end. Under a full antique wash, no color is left at strength, and the gray brown field has gone to a single soft warmth. An allover lattice of small flowers and curved leaves runs end to end, now a brown outline with faint pale blue green in the leaves. There is no medallion to break the repeat. The wide border carries brown diamonds and stepped, hooked figures between guard stripes of zigzag and tiny flower heads. Down the center a pale streak marks where the pile has worn lowest, with lighter patches near the top and a few worn lines across. The low washed pile gives a corner gray brown and cream tones, with pale blue green as the cool note. At 5'5" by 13'1", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
