This lovely runner has a long hexagonal medallion on a deep red field. Over a deep red field, a long hexagonal medallion holds a red core and stepped diamond pendants. Gray brown hatching fills the space around the central form. The main border is cream with hooked geometric motifs in red and brown, set beside a beautiful dark teal band. Narrow guard stripes of triangles and lines frame the drawing. A few patches near the medallion are worn, with white specks where the foundation shows. At 3'7" by 7'3", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Azerbaijan rugs
The Shahsevan, Turkic nomads of the northwest, carry a name that means those who love the king. They spent the winter near sea level on the Moghan steppe and the summer about 160 kilometers south, in the high pastures of the Savalan range. Persian Azerbaijan covers the northwestern corner of the country. It is less a single style than a family of village traditions that share a vocabulary: angular medallions, hooked motifs, madder and indigo. This runner keeps that angular vocabulary in its stepped medallion and hooked border. The deep red field and dark teal accents set a strong contrast along the length.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
