4400 · 6'7" x 9'7" Persian Ardabil Area Rug

Gold rosettes, cream cartouches and curling leaves decorate the deep red border on this wonderful rug. At a distance the field looks deep burgundy, though up close it is a dense repeat of red, gold and cream diamonds and curled leaves on navy. The splendid central medallion is a cream hexagon with a small red lozenge as its core and notched pendants at the top and the bottom. Pale blue spandrels sit at the four field corners, and a small burgundy triangle closes each outer one. The border proper is deep red, with lovely gold rosettes, cream cartouches and curling leaves, flanked by guard stripes in cream and blue. Full pile stands in the field and in each border. The pale blue corners lighten the red in a sitting area. At 6'7" by 9'7", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
