The central diamond medallion of this lovely rug has a near-black ground and a cream cross at its core. Small geometric motifs, hooked sprigs and tiny birds fill the deep red field around a central diamond medallion. The medallion has a near-black ground and a cream cross at its core, with a smaller cream diamond above it and another below. Four cream hexagonal medallions sit in the dark navy corners, and four small cream animals stand where the red diamond meets them. The main border is orange, set with small blossoms and zigzag lines, inside a cream chevron stripe. The pile is low in places across the dark field around the medallion, where the foundation shows, and fuller in the borders. It holds a strong graphic weight in a room, and the dark corners keep the red from taking over. At 5'5" by 8'2", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
