This rug is lovely, with a stepped diamond medallion in deep red and ivory at the middle. Over a near-black field, small sprays of red, pink and cream blossoms surround a central figure. A stepped diamond medallion in deep red and ivory sits at the middle, with a red pendant above and below. Handsome ivory spandrels with stepped edges fill the four corners, set with a few red and brown motifs. The main border is burgundy, carrying a row of dainty flower heads in pink, blue and tan. Guard stripes of ivory with small red flowers run beside a thin blue line on both sides. The pile is full, with a few low spots in the near-black field. It brings the near-black field and the deep red into a room with a steady, grounded weight. At 6'11" by 10'3", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
