5589 · 9'1" x 11'8" Persian Mashhad Oversized Rug

A near-black medallion in a pointed oval shape rests at the heart of this lovely rug. Across a deep red field, charming winding stems and small blossoms in steel blue, olive and cream spread from the center. A near-black medallion in a pointed oval shape rests at the heart of the field with a red lozenge core and matching near-black pendants above and below. The red field ends in a scalloped oval, and the four corners outside it are near-black with green, blue and pink flowers. Near-black also grounds the beautiful main border, which carries large palmettes and curling leaves in red, pink, tan and olive. Guard stripes in steel blue with pink flowers and in tan with red and black paisley enclose the field. Pile has thinned in patches over the red field, most at the upper left, with white specks across the border. It suits a large room, where the near-black border frames the red center. At 9'1" by 11'8", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
