This lovely rug holds a star medallion on an ivory field crowded with scrolling vines and palmettes. At the center, a star medallion sits on an ivory field crowded with charming scrolling vines and palmettes in dusty rose, slate blue and gray brown. The medallion holds a small rosette core, and its points reach into the surrounding floral lattice. The ivory field narrows to a lobed oval, and gray beige pieces with the same vine work fill its corners. A splendid gray beige main border carries a repeat of palmettes and leaves, flanked by three slim guard stripes in slate blue and cream. A light antique wash has softened the colors without reaching the drawing. The pile is full across the face, and the fine drawing stays clear. The blue and brown details stand out against the light ground. At 6'4" by 9'8", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
