3524 · 6'6" x 9'9" Persian Kashan Area Rug

Scrolling vines and palmettes crowd the cream field on this lovely rug. At the center, a lobed oval medallion sits on a cream field crowded with charming scrolling vines and palmettes. A small gray rosette with a red center marks its core, and the vines run outward in fine brown lines. Beyond the medallion the ground turns tan toward the four corners, with the same vines carrying across. The main border is tan, with a vine of palmettes and flower heads in red, olive and teal. Thin guard bands in cream, olive and brown run along each side. The pile is full across most of the face, with a few pale specks where it is low. The fine drawing stands clear against the light ground, giving the piece a warm presence. At 6'6" by 9'9", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
