A dense lattice of cream vines and dusty rose blossoms covers this lovely rug. A dense lattice of graceful cream vines, dusty rose blossoms and small teal leaves covers the plum field. No single medallion holds the center; instead, pretty sprays of palmettes repeat down the length in an all-over plan. A wide cream border surrounds the plum ground, worked with scrolling boteh motifs in steel blue and gray brown. Narrow guard stripes in pale blue and plum separate this light band from the busy interior. Pile has thinned in a few patches, revealing the weave beneath in spots. In a reading nook, the deep plum ground frames the lighter floral notes. At 4'3" by 7'6", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The largest carpet exchange in Turkey in its day was the Isparta Carpet Palace. Isparta sits in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, and its workshops spent the twentieth century weaving Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. That palette is softer and chalkier, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. These are town rugs rather than tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field usually reads calm from across a room. This piece keeps that order in its repeating vine lattice and the clear separation between the plum ground and the cream border. The steel blue accents in the border cool the warmth of the plum field.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
