Two large sprays of cream blossoms fill opposite corners of this charming rug. Rose covers the whole field, washed to a soft warmth with pale streaks running through the ground. Two large sprays of delicate cream blossoms and brown stems fill opposite corners, leaving the center open. There is no medallion, no border and no guard stripe, only the floral motifs set against the rose. A full antique wash has brought every color to one warmth, none at strength. A few patches show bare weave where the pile is low. The piece holds a warm tone, and the dainty cream flowers keep the rose light. At 4'11" by 8', it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In 1924, in the first years of the Turkish Republic, entrepreneurs of Isparta backed the founding of the Isparta Yarn Factory. The state-owned Sumerbank took over the Isparta carpet factory in 1943 and backed carpet making by hand there with new technology. Isparta sits in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, and its workshops spent the twentieth century weaving Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. These are town rugs rather than tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly. This rug keeps that soft palette, with cream blossoms set against the washed rose ground. The open field and the corner sprays give the piece a calm, uncluttered look.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
