A diamond medallion of vines stands on a dusty rose field in this charming rug. At the center, a diamond medallion of violet blue and teal vines sits on a dusty rose field with pointed ends. Delicate floral sprays in pale blue and cream spread out from the core. Cream and blue scroll pieces curve inward at each end of the panel. A violet blue main border is set with dainty cream rosettes and small geometric marks in teal. Narrow guard stripes of gray and dark blue line both sides of the frame. Pile runs low in streaks over the face, and the weave shows through in patches. It suits a restful room, letting the soft rose and cool blue notes stay gentle. At 5'6" by 9'8", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Manisa rugs
Suleiman the Magnificent sent his own son, Prince Selim, to govern Manisa in 1544, a posting that had come to mark a prince as a candidate for the throne. The carpets of Kula, in Manisa province, first appear in the 17th century, and the town made its best pieces in the 18th and 19th centuries. Inland from the Aegean coast, Manisa weaves between two traditions. The geometric medallions of Anatolian village work and the softer floral borders of the western workshops often meet in the same rug. This rug holds that blend, with a central diamond shape set inside a border of round rosettes. Dusty rose and muted blue keep the look soft and faded.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
