An all-over repeat of blue flowers and green leaves makes this a lovely rug. Vines and small blossoms cover the dusty rose field in an all-over repeat of blue flowers and green leaves. No central medallion anchors the design; instead, a splendid lattice of scrolling stems links flower heads across the open ground. The main border runs sage green and cream, filled with dainty rosettes and curling leaves. Teal and near-black guard stripes run beside it. Pile runs low in small patches over the field, while the colors read paler from a light wash and the drawing stays clear. Rose and sage balance one another across the surface. At 6'2" by 9'3", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Manisa rugs
Suleiman the Magnificent sent his own son, Prince Selim, to govern Manisa in 1544, a posting that had come to mark a prince as a candidate for the throne. The carpets of Kula, in Manisa province, first appear in the 17th century, and the town made its best pieces in the 18th and 19th centuries. Manisa sits inland from the Aegean coast, and its weavers worked between two traditions. The colors lean warm and faded: cream, dusty rose and muted greens. They were made for houses, not for export, so the sizes are practical. This rug follows the floral side of that range, with blue blossoms spread evenly over the dusty rose field and a sage border around it.

Full care guideReturns
If a rug isn’t right for your space, get in touch within 7 days of delivery (14 days in the European Union) and we’ll help arrange a return or exchange. Because each piece is one of a kind, we handle every return personally.
Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
