A mirrored floral lattice makes this a charming rug. A mirrored floral lattice covers the cream field with dainty pink blossoms, sky blue leaves and sage sprigs. The design repeats in vertical columns without a single medallion, leaving the light ground open between the vines. A wide wine red border frames the drawing, its color worn to show pale threads across the surface. Along the border the pile has thinned in a couple of spots. The pink and blue notes sit against the cream in a bright room. At 5'3" by 7'11", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Manisa rugs
In Demirci, a district of Manisa, almost every household has been known to keep a carpet loom. Since 1997 the hand-woven carpets of Gordes, a district of Manisa, have carried a protected geographical mark. Inland from the Aegean coast, Manisa weaves between two traditions. The geometric medallions of Anatolian village work and the softer floral borders of the western workshops often meet in the same rug. Here the floral lattice fills the field rather than gathering at a center. The single wide wine red border carries no pattern of its own.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
