Teal rosettes and scrolling vines make this a wonderful rug. Lovely scrolling vines, teal rosettes and small rose and brown blossoms fill the cream field. A column of round rosettes runs down the center in place of a medallion, pale gray-green and teal in turn. The main border is sage, carrying graceful cream and brown palmettes with teal leaves and a thin rose vine. Brown bands with small cream motifs run on both sides of it. Pile is full over the whole face. In a corner, the teal and rose stand out against the cream. At 6'4" by 8'10", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Manisa rugs
Suleiman the Magnificent sent his own son, Prince Selim, to govern Manisa in 1544, a posting that had come to mark a prince as a candidate for the throne. The carpets of Kula, in Manisa province, first appear in the 17th century, and the town made its best pieces in the 18th and 19th centuries. Manisa lies inland from the Aegean coast, and its weaving sits between two traditions. Anatolian village medallions and the softer floral borders of the western workshops often share one rug. The palette leans warm and faded: cream, dusty rose, muted greens. This rug follows that palette, with curling vines and rosettes across the field and a sage border of palmettes and vines.

Full care guideReturns
If a rug isn’t right for your space, get in touch within 7 days of delivery (14 days in the European Union) and we’ll help arrange a return or exchange. Because each piece is one of a kind, we handle every return personally.
Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
