3527 · 6'6" x 10'5" Persian Kashan Area Rug

A notched diamond medallion with a cream ground and a blue core, ringed in near-black, anchors this lovely rug. On a deep red field, scrolling vines and palmettes in cream, rose, blue and brown crowd around a central shape. The medallion is a notched diamond with a cream ground and a blue core, ringed in near-black, with pendants toward the top and bottom. Splendid cream spandrels with blue vine loops sit in each corner of the field. The wide main border has a near-black ground carrying charming red rosettes, tan leaves and curling rose stems, with guard stripes of small blue and red marks on each side. Small low spots show as white flecks over the red and along the main border. It anchors a sitting area, and the cream corners break up so much red. At 6'6" by 10'5", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
