A navy diamond medallion stands at the center of a deep red field on this charming rug. Stepped navy panels filled with rows of small hooked motifs in camel and cream break up the deep red field. A large navy diamond medallion sits at the center, holding a column of hooked shapes, while smaller forms in brown and peach align above and below it. Stepped lines in gray and tan separate the central red zone from the navy corner areas. A beautiful deep red border runs round the rug with a repeating pattern of small cream and brown figures, edged by narrow guard stripes in dark brown and tan. Small white specks show where the pile has worn low across the red ground. It anchors a small space, and the strong contrast between the red and navy keeps the geometric drawing clear. At 3'5" by 5'11", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
