4703 · 8'2" x 11'6" Persian Sabzevar Oversized Rug

A charming navy star medallion with a cream core sits at the center of the deep red field. Where the deep red field opens at the center, a navy star medallion spreads its pointed lobes around a cream core. Pretty pale blossoms and vines are scattered across the red. Cream cartouches sit in the navy ground of each corner. Navy fills the main border, dark enough to read near-black, with lovely rose palmettes and red rosettes. Cream guard bands with red boteh, each a paisley leaf-drop, frame it, with a thin blue stripe inside. Wear has taken the middle of the field and part of the lower border, where the pile is low and the red reads paler. The top of the field keeps its strength. This is a formal rug: the navy gives the red weight, and the cream lightens the border. At 8'2" by 11'6", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
