3550 · 7'10" x 11'10" Persian Kashan Oversized Rug

Cream spandrels with pale blue leaves sit in the corners of this lovely rug. Graceful scrolling vines, palmettes and flower heads in cream, steel blue and olive cover the deep red field. A splendid stepped, lobed medallion in near-black holds a cream center with a pale blue core, and pendants reach toward the top and bottom. Cream spandrels with pale blue leaves sit in the four corners against a near-black ground. The main border is near-black, carrying cream and pale blue rosettes joined by curling stems in red and pink. Narrow guard stripes in rust, pink and cream edge this broad frame on both sides. The pile is low in a few patches across the red field, where the foundation shows. The dense drawing holds the room together, the cream spandrels lifting the heavy red center. At 7'10" by 11'10", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
