4082 · 9'1" x 12'6" Persian Kashan Oversized Rug

A large diamond medallion has a near-black ring around a wonderful cream core. On a burgundy field, small sprays of pale blue, pink and cream blossoms are set around the center. A large diamond medallion has a near-black ring around a cream core worked in blue and green, with matching pendants above and below. Handsome near-black spandrels curve into the four corners, packed with palmettes and vine. The splendid main border is near-black as well, carrying a heavy scroll of red, pink and cream palmettes. Broad guard bands of cream with small blue flowers and of steel blue with red and pink blossoms sit on either side. The pile is full across the borders and the field, which reads a little paler in a few horizontal bands. The dense drawing gathers the deep red and the near-black into one formal shape. At 9'1" by 12'6", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
