A wonderful navy medallion with stepped, cusped edges holds the middle of the field. Fine vines and small flowers in cream and light blue crowd a deep red field. Splendid cream and light blue corner pieces close the four corners. The navy main border carries a scrolling vine of palmettes outlined in cream, with ochre in their hearts, between cream flower guards and a wide light blue guard stripe. The pile is full, so every leaf and petal keeps a crisp edge. It anchors a formal room with red and navy in full strength, while the light blue guard stripe opens the frame. At 9'5" by 13'1", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Kashan rugs
Under the Safavid shahs Kashan was an important center of the silk trade and of carpet making. Nothing is known of Kashan carpets from the 1600s through the 1800s; then, at the dawn of the 20th century, a large commercial production arose there. Kashan is the central Persian city most closely tied to the formal Persian rug. The plan is a medallion at the center, spandrels in the corners, and a field of curling vine and palmette. This rug keeps to that plan from the middle out, with a pendant at each end of the medallion and vine reaching into every corner. These were made as the best rug in a house, and the fine drawing carries that intent.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
